Seaweed Jelly adds velvety texture easily. Make anything into a dip, instantly.
The unfrozen Seaweed Paste (page 42) makes some of the best spreads I have ever tasted. But freezing the Seaweed Paste (page 90) makes an even richer and creamier consistency. It has a decidedly nutty taste, and makes a good base for pates, spreads, and puddings.
Seaweed Paste Recipes
Sour Cream DipThis is a basic dip recipe to give you the idea of how to use the seaweed Jelly in any dip recipe. The seaweed Jelly makes this extra creamy and tasty.
¾ cup sour cream
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
½ tablespoon grated onion
¼ teaspoon dried dill
¼ cup brown seaweed paste
¼ teaspoon salt, white pepper
Optional: Add garlic.
Mix well and serve chilled.

Guacamole (Avocado) Dip
This is a yummy party dip. Serve with tortilla chips, or raw vegetables.
Try it with apple cider vinegar in place of the lime juice.
1 ripe avocado - mashed
Fresh lime juice
1½ tablespoons brown or green seaweed paste
Finely chopped onion
Finely chopped cilantro or parsley
2 tablespoons olive oil
Minced garlic
Dash hot pepper sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
½ cup finely diced tomatoes
Place in a bowl and mash with a fork. Stir in the diced tomatoes. Serve
at room temperature. |
